Cusco has Machu Picchu, which attracts thousands of travelers a year. A magical sanctuary that enchants but that also radiates energy, especially in those film sunrises seen from the Puerta del Sol, when the light filters through the buildings that still survive, imposing, over time. High peaks flank the stage and one can take refuge in silence and share some peace. And it is that the mysticism of Machu Picchu cannot be counted on words; It is something that should be felt. Located at 2430 meters above sea level, to understand it you have to know how to read it. Its key points are the main square, the temple of the condor, the Intihuatana, the three windows, the enclosure of the mirrors, the Inca palace, the sacred rock, the Intipunku, from where you have a panoramic view, and the climb to the Huayna Picchu A kilometer walking south from Machu Picchu is the Puerta del Sol or Intipunku. It has probably served as a point of surveillance and access control due to its strategic location: the entire complex is admired and you can get there by going through the citadel or by any of the versions of the Inca Trail.
